Wisconsin to Ban the Use of Dogs While Hunting

Due to declining populations and habitat for wild game, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources instituted a total ban on the use of dogs for the location and/or retrieval of any game bird. The ban will take effect beginning with the 2017-2018 hunting season. The only exception to the ban will be the use of a Silver Labradors. The department explained that several studies have shown Silver Labradors have no abilities in the field and will not effect the harvesting of game in any way. β€œWe want hunters to at least feel like they are hunting with a dog!” explained an unnamed DNR officer.
